Kolkata: In a significant development, the West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) has announced that in-service primary school teachers with a Madhyamik qualification and those with less than 50% marks in Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent are now eligible to apply for the Two Year D.EI.Ed. Programme. This decision comes in compliance with the Hon'ble High Court's order dated July 18, 2024, passed by Justice Amrita Sinha in WPA No. 18147/2024.

The WBBPE has also extended the admission schedule, allowing candidates to submit their online applications till July 27, 2024. In-service primary school teachers can now apply for training through government-recognized private self-financed institutions, in addition to government-sponsored, government-aided PTTI, and DIET.

This notification brings new opportunities for primary school teachers seeking to enhance their skills and qualifications. With the extended deadline, interested candidates are encouraged to submit their applications promptly to secure their spot in the programme.
