In a recent disclosure to the Rajya Sabha, the Centre revealed that out of 52,910 candidates who appeared for interviews for various government jobs, 33,950 were not selected. The information was shared by Union Minister of State for Personnel, Jitendra Singh, in a written reply.
To support these aspirants, the government has introduced initiatives aimed at improving their employment prospects. Launched in June 2016, the Public Disclosure Scheme allows recruitment agencies to publish profiles of candidates who cleared earlier recruitment stages but were not finally selected. These profiles can be accessed by private companies, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and other organisations looking to fill vacancies.
Further enhancing this effort, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) recently introduced the Pratibha-Setu portal. This platform enables private and public sector employers to view profiles of candidates who reached the interview stage but were not recommended for final selection.
Both initiatives aim to bridge the gap between skilled job seekers and potential employers, offering thousands of deserving candidates another opportunity for meaningful employment
