New Delhi: Delhi University (DU) has announced that from 2025 onwards, undergraduate (UG) admissions will strictly require students to select CUET UG subjects that match their Class 12 coursework. University officials highlighted this crucial requirement during a webinar aimed at guiding aspirants through the admission process.
Strict Subject Selection Criteria for CUET UG 2025
During the online session, DU's Dean of Admissions, Haneet Gandhi, and Joint Dean, Anand Sonkar, addressed queries from students and parents regarding the application process. They stressed that students must carefully choose their CUET UG subjects in accordance with their Class 12 subjects. Any mismatch could result in ineligibility for certain courses.
Gandhi further warned that errors in the CUET UG application, including mistakes in names, category selection, and uploaded documents, cannot be rectified later. Hence, students must exercise caution while filling out their forms.
CUET UG 2025: Limited Subject Selection and B.Com (Hons.) Eligibility
From 2025, CUET UG applicants can select a maximum of five subjects from a total of 37 options. Additionally, an Aptitude Test has been introduced as part of the examination process.
In response to specific course queries, Gandhi clarified that for admission into B.Com (Hons.), students must have studied Mathematics or Accountancy in Class 12. Those who have not taken these subjects will be eligible only for the B.Com course and not the honors program.
CUET UG Scores: The Sole Admission Criterion for DU
DU reaffirmed that CUET UG 2025 scores will be the sole criterion for admission, with Class 12 board exam results being considered only for passing eligibility. Students were also advised to rely solely on the official Delhi University website for information to avoid misinformation from unreliable sources.
Delhi University, which has 69 affiliated colleges offering 79 undergraduate courses, will strictly follow CUET UG 2025 for admissions, with the exception of School of Open Learning (SOL), Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board (NCWEB), and foreign applicants.
