Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, MoS Education inaugurates three hostels, lays foundation stone of International Hostel at JMI

JMI has progressed exceptionally well under the active leadership of Prof. Najma Akhtar: Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh

NEW DELHI ;- Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Education, Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh today laid the foundation stone of Jamia International Hostel at Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI).  Dr. Ranjan also inaugurated three hostels - Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Hall, Sir A.M. Khwaja Hostel and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Hostel. JMI Vice Chancellor, Prof. Najma Akhtar presided over the function which was organised at Mir Anis Hall of the university.

Appreciating the leadership of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar, the Hon’ble Minister said that I am delighted to visit JMI to attend this function.  JMI has progressed very well under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Najma Akhtar and continuous improvement in the performance of the university in NAAC, NIRF and other rankings are a testimony to it. Not only this, under her active leadership several new faculties and departments have been started at the university which is praiseworthy.

Dr. Singh further said that over the years JMI has emerged as a seat of learning that underscores the cultural and religious diversity of India which I think is the inclusive spirit of the country. It helps in inculcating a spirit of learning that plains traditions with modernity, humanism with mannerism and nation building with professionalism. It is an indicator of Jamia’s contribution to higher education.

Dr Ranjan added “It goes without saying that quality education has a significant role in overall development of the country and in this regard Jamia has played an important role. In this technologically advanced time Jamia has helped our students achieve the modern education to come at par to the needs of the hour. I am pleased to announce that Jamia is one of such universities that are technologically equipped and educationally modern.”   

While appreciating the efforts of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar for successfully implementing the key points of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Dr. Singh said “I am happy to know that JMI is aligning its academic policies and programmes with the NEP 2020.”  

After formally welcoming the Hon’ble Minister JMI Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar in her address said that the Union government, led by our proactive Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, is nurturing the young minds with a strong faith in their power and talent. They will play a vital role in carrying the government’s legacy of shaping our nation’s progress and prosperity, fulfilling the needs and the aspirations of the societies.

“I consider it a great privilege to work under his progressive leadership. It is through his robust and continuous support and transformative leadership that we have been able to render our best to keep Jamia Millia Islamia on a rare growth trajectory, enabling it to emerge as a rich tapestry of excellence, innovations, pioneering research, quality education, promoting transparency, a culture of creativity while pushing the boundaries and exploring new possibilities”, said the Vice Chancellor.

After the inauguration the Hon’ble Minister also interacted with Deans, HoDs, Officers and students of the university. He offered a number of invaluable suggestions for a much brighter future for JMI and the country.

JMI Registrar Prof. Nazim Husain Jafri presented the formal vote of thanks. The program culminated with the singing of the National Anthem by the gathering.
