Mahenderagarh:The Central University of Haryana, in collaboration with the National Geospatial Program (NGP) of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, has announced a Winter School on Geospatial Science and Technology. This comprehensive program is scheduled to take place from November 25 to December 15, 2024.Prof.Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of the University release the brochure of Winter School on Geospatial Science and Technology and said that the Winter School is designed to bolster knowledge and capacity in geospatial technologies, aligning with India's 'Digital India' initiative aimed at fostering sustainable development and good governance. Prof. Kumar further stated that in India's rapidly evolving infrastructure landscape, digital transformation plays a crucial role in leveraging geospatial technology for enhanced efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and timely project execution.
Dr. Jitendra Kumar, Head of the Department of Geography at the School of Basic Sciences, will lead this initiative. He said that the program offers three levels of training, with the current announcement focusing on Level 1: Standard Program. Participants will engage in a robust curriculum that covers the fundamentals of GIS, remote sensing, and digital image processing, supplemented by hands-on lab sessions, fieldwork, and mini-projects. This initiative underscores the importance of geospatial technologies in various sectors, proving to be a significant enabler for addressing contemporary challenges.
Eligible candidates for the program include faculty members from colleges and universities, state and central government officials, researchers, school teachers, and registered NGOs. The program provides an excellent opportunity for these professionals to enhance their skills in geospatial science using open-source software.The application process is straightforward, with candidates required to submit an online application form by September 30, 2024. Selected participants will be notified by October 3, 2024. The program will accommodate 25 participants, with no registration fees involved. Additionally, each participant will receive reimbursement for travel expenses and lodging will be provided by the university.
The Winter School's comprehensive schedule includes sessions on acquiring satellite data, understanding geospatial data types, georeferencing, spatial analysis, and remote sensing applications. Expert faculty from prestigious institutions across India will contribute to the program, ensuring a rich learning experience for all attendees.On this occasion, Prof. M.L.
