Assam :- In the recent cabinet meeting held on November 16, the Assam government announced that the Class 10 and Class 12 boards will merge into one and will be called the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB). Currently, it is the Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) for Class 10 and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) for Class 12, which will now be combined as ASSEB.

The proposal for this merger was earlier announced in June 2023. The decision to merge the board and the council into one single entity has been made to develop, regulate and supervise the standards and quality of school education, an official statement notified.
