Mahendergarh : An expert talk on "Pharmacovigilance, ADR, and Surveillance" was organized by the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the School of Interdisciplinary and Applied Sciences at the Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh. Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, sent a message emphasizing the importance of drug safety and regulatory requirements. He commended the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences for initiating this program, specifically designed for M. Pharm students and faculty members involved in the field of Pharmacovigilance.
Prof. Dinesh Kumar Gupta, Chairperson, Dean of SIAS, mentioned that similar expert talks will be organized in the future to provide scholars with opportunities to interact with distinguished experts in the field.Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Head and Convener of the event, delivered the welcome address and provided an overview of the program. He highlighted the critical role of Pharmacovigilance and ADR monitoring in the healthcare system, ensuring the safety of medicines and vaccines.
Dr. Manisha Pandey, the organizing secretary of the event, explained that the talk was specifically arranged for M. Pharm students and PhD scholars from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. However, students from other departments within CUH and outside the university also participated, gaining valuable insights into Pharmacovigilance and patient safety.
Joint organizing secretaries Dr. Sumit Kumar, Dr. Tarun Kumar, and Dr. Ashok Jangra contributed to the event’s success. Dr. Manisha Pandey also announced that the expert talk was delivered by Dr. PalanisamySivanandy, a distinguished international expert from the International Medical University, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Dr. Sivanandy emphasized that Pharmacovigilance is crucial in maintaining the safety of medicines and vaccines, particularly during the ongoing pandemic. He discussed the role of healthcare professionals in reporting and monitoring Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) and underscored the significance of patient safety within the healthcare system.Over 90 students from across the country participated in the event and benefited from the expert insights shared during the session.
