New Delhi. : The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to introduce a global curriculum for foreign students starting in the 2026-2027 academic year. Additionally, a draft proposal for conducting board exams twice a year from the same academic year is also under consideration.
This decision was made following a high-level meeting chaired by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday. The meeting included officials from the External Affairs Ministry, the Department of School Education, CBSE, as well as heads of NCERT, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), and representatives from global schools.
CBSE confirmed the decision through a post on X, stating, "The modalities of establishing and implementing the CBSE Global Curriculum were discussed in detail, and CBSE was directed to launch the CBSE Global Curriculum for Foreign Schools from 2026-2027 and to prepare a detailed action plan accordingly."
On the same day, Pradhan also announced plans for a draft scheme to conduct board exams twice a year, aiming to create a stress-free learning environment for students. In his tweet, he noted, "Examination Improvement and Reform is a key step towards this," and emphasized the importance of this reform in line with the National Education Policy (NEP). The draft proposal will soon be made available for public consultation by CBSE. This move is expected to alleviate exam-related stress and provide flexibility to students.
