Maharashtra board exams : HSC, SSC exams 2021 likely to get postponed

Mumbai : The Maharashtra educational department may postpone the Maharashtra HSC and SSC exam 2021 due to the increasing Covid cases in the state. The education department is finalizing a plan for upcoming board exam which includes a proposal to postpone it.

“I can’t say anything at this moment but, yes, a final decision will be taken this week itself. I will meet with various stakeholders and see what their views are about exams. Then we will have to seek the consent from chief minister’s office (CMO) as well regarding the final proposal." Maharashtra's school education minister Varsha Gaikwad told TOI.

President of School Headmasters’ Charitable Association Zafar Khan urged  government to postpone the exam for at least a  month and then make further decision on the bases of number of cases in the state.

Postponement of the exams is highly possible  as the Covid cases in the state are rapidly rising. On Tuesday, Gaikwad met the officials to review the situation and is expected to make a formal announcement by Friday.
