ASN Senior Secondary School, Mayur Vihar – 1 in collaboration with Sachhi Saheli, an NGO which works to spread awareness about Menstrual Health and Hygiene celebratedHappy Periods Dayon 5th Feb’ 2020 to sensitize children and consequently help to eradicate the stigmas, taboos and  myths related to Menstrual Health.

The occasion was graced by Dr. Surbhi Singh, Founder and President Sachhi Saheli; Rachna Sudheen, Vice President Sachhi Saheli. The Program took an auspicious start with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries present. Ms. Sushma Kalia, School Coordinator formally welcomed teachers and participants of various school from Delhi and NCR. She urged them to spread awareness about Menstrual Health as Healthy Girls will build a Healthy Nation.

Dr. Surbhi Singh, gave an Awareness Talk Show on the topic “Taboos and Myths associated with Menstrual Health”. The talk show was followed by an interactive session where Dr. Singh addressed the queries of the children.

The Red Dot Campaign was conducted enthusiastically in the school wherein all the students and teachers put a red dot on their hands to  stand in solidarity and raise awareness on ways to dispose sanitary waste to maintain menstrual hygiene. Children actively participated in this Awareness Campaign and made thoughtful cards to celebrate Happy Periods Day. These cards were symbolic of the celebration and had atleast one tip to manage periods effectively.

The Prize Distribution Ceremony was held and all the participants were awarded with participating certificates, prizes and 5 P Pouches. All the participating schools were awarded with mementos.

The Programme culminated with a vote of thanks by Ms. Renuka Rawat, Incharge Primary wing.
