AHMEDABAD: The admission procedure for diploma engineering courses in the state will begin from Tuesday. The last date for online registration is June 12. Students will be able to get their PIN number by June 11.
The PINs will be available from 123 branches of a private bank across the state. Officials said there are 65,575 seats this year as against 66,715 seats last year. There has been a reduction of 1,140 seats as two colleges closed shop this year.
Of the 65,575 seats there are 20,656 government colleges, while there are 1,210 seats in government grant-in-aid colleges, and 550 seats in colleges run on private public partnership. There are 43,260 seats in self-financed colleges in the state.
Officials said there is usually a rush after SSC exams for diploma engineering courses.
Students who desire to study diploma engineering after class X can fill up their forms. Also the Admission Committee for Professional Diploma courses has decided that they would be holding 65 seminars across the state to give information about the diploma courses after class X. Last year, the number of such seminars was 98.
Officials said the provisional merit list will be declared on June 15. The first mock round of admissions will be taken up after that.
